The Caffeinated Cow now has a brick-and-mortar location in Wellsburg
WELLSBURG — Area residents who stopped by the Caffeinated Cow food truck for a rejuvenating and tasty cup of coffee or cold drink now can find all of its beverages under one roof at 2504 Commerce St.
David and Katherine Hamilton, owners of the Caffeinated Cow Coffee Co., said they have been thrilled with the public’s response since they opened their brick-and-mortar coffee shop along state Route 2.
On the first day of its opening, the couple found customers lined up outside the building, and the vote of confidence hasn’t gone unappreciated by the Hamiltons.
“We are super thankful for it,” said David.
Since then, they have been hard at work with the help of Elizabeth Price, their head employees and others to supply early morning commuters, casual clientele and others with the pick-me-ups and thirst-quenchers they seek.
Their offerings include hot drip coffee; latte; Americano; chai latte; and green, Earl Grey or spiced chai tea; assorted frappes and Mad Cow energy drinks in a wide variety of flavors.
For children, there’s a “brown cow” (chocolate milk) and steamed milk or soda water with choice of flavoring.
“The most popular orders would have to be iced lattes with cold foam. Most coffee shops have limited flavor choices for the foam, but we make it with any of the flavors we carry,” said Katherine.
David noted they can add to their drinks syrup in about 30 flavors, including brown butter, brown sugar, caramel, cinnamon bun, cotton candy, cupcake, dark chocolate, hazelnut, maple, pumpkin and assorted fruits.
There also are sugar-free caramel, vanilla and white chocolate syrups available, and their white chocolate latte is one of their best-selling hot drinks.
The Hamiltons said they plan to offer rotating seasonal specials as well as limited time only drinks, which they will post on the Caffeinated Cow Facebook page.
They also plan to offer snacks, including treats produced by the Fat Apple bakery of Bridgeport and cinnamon rolls, pepperoni rolls and other items on a rotating basis.
The shop is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Those not on their way to work or school are welcome to relax on two plump couches or in the seats at the shop’s front window.
The Hamiltons take pride in offering a relaxing atmosphere while delivering their product in a cheerful manner.
“We want to make sure it’s a fun experience for our customers,” said David.
David grew up on his family’s cattle farm in Bethany, helping with various tasks there from an early age. He and Katherine, a Wheeling native, are expecting their first child in February.
Together they have operated a mobile Caffeinated Cow since last June, appearing regularly in Wellsburg, including the Brooke County Farmers Market, and at area special events.
David said the mobile location is slated to return in the summer.
The Hamiltons also may accept phone and online orders in the future.
The new business was welcomed with a ribbon cutting ceremony conducted by the Wellsburg Chamber of Commerce and attended by Mayor Dan Dudley and many others.
Chamber President Dan Otto said of the occasion, “This is a special one for me because I got to see it grow from a mobile operation to its present location.”
