ALTOONA, Pa. — Sheetz, a major Mid-Atlantic restaurant and convenience chain, has been named to this year’s list of “America’s Most Innovative Companies” by Fortune and Statista.

Sheetz was honored as a leader in retail and convenience innovation and was recognized for its relentless drive to stay ahead of the curve in delivering new ideas, products and initiatives to its customers. Sheetz is the only convenience chain included on this year’s list.

In 2019, Sheetz opened office space in Pittsburgh to exclusively focus on new lines of business, next-generation customer experience and envisioning what convenience will look like years from now. In 2023, Sheetz doubled the size of this office space, expanding its footprint to support rapid growth and new initiatives within the company.

It is this pioneering spirit that drove the company to implement touch-screen ordering decades before most retailers, build drive-throughs at its stores for customers who are on the go, be among the first to introduce voice-activated ordering through Amazon Alexa, implement Scan & Go during the COVID-19 pandemic and much more. Sheetz was also ahead of the curve in the convenience industry in supporting electric vehicles, surpassing 2 million electric vehicle charging sessions in 2023.

Fortune and Statista selected America’s Most Innovative Companies this year based on product innovation, process innovation and innovation culture. For the evaluation of the innovation culture and the internal view of process innovation, Statista deployed online surveys where employees could score their own company on a scale system.

For the evaluation of the external view of process innovation as well as product innovation, Statista surveyed experts in various fields — from recruiters to management consultants and patent attorneys. The 300 US companies with the highest score were awarded America’s Most Innovative Companies in 2025.
