Trinity celebrates emergency medicine graduates

STEUBENVILLE — Trinity Health System celebrated the achievements of its Emergency Medicine residency program during a graduation ceremony held June 12 at Pastaio Cucina Rustica Italiana restaurant in Wintersville.
The ceremony marked the successful completion of Trinity Health System’s graduate medical education program for seven residents who have spent the last three years honing their skills in emergency care.
These residents are Drs. Christopher Bell, Mitchell Cornforth, Marielle Discipulo, Brigham Dunn, Erika Keshishian, Arjun Singh and Zaev Suskin.
The ceremony was attended by faculty, staff and community partners, with speeches from Dr. Matt Colflesh, chief medical officer, and Dr. John Columbus, chair of emergency medicine, who offered words of encouragement and gratitude to the graduates for their commitment to patient care.
“We are immensely proud of the achievements of these residents who have trained to provide exceptional care under circumstances that were at times challenging,” said Colflesh. “As health care professionals, they are now prepared to serve and make a lasting impact on the communities we care for.”
Dr. Benson Yeh, emergency medicine program director, and Tammy Droginske, emergency medicine program coordinator, presented the graduates with their certificates and recognized several exceptional individuals with prestigious awards.
The following awards were given in recognition of the residents’ hard work, dedication and excellence in their training:
• Highest In Training Exam Award: Dr. Nathan Smith
• Resuscitationist Award: Dr. Brigham Dunn
• Proceduralist Award: Dr. Mitchell Cornforth
• Best Resident Award: Dr. Arjun Singh
• Humanist Award: Dr. Marielle Discipulo
• Faculty Educator of the Year Award: Dr. Zachary Jackson
The event also acknowledged the valuable support of core clinical partners, whose commitment to providing a robust educational experience for residents has been instrumental in the program’s success.
“Trinity Health System remains dedicated to training the next generation of health care leaders,” said Droginske. “As we move forward, we will continue to foster an environment of excellence, compassion, and service to meet the needs of our community.”
