Castello’s Pizza and Pasta offers a variety of food at familiar location

Warren Scott A NEW PLACE TO EAT — The owners of Castello’s Pizza and Pasta recruited Delores DeStefano to cut the ribbon for their new business at 545 Main St., Follansbee, the location for many years of her own restaurant, DeStefano’s Spaghetti House. Castello’s offers not only pizza and pasta but also assorted sandwiches, salads and desserts and on Sundays, a breakfast buffet.

FOLLANSBEE — A new restaurant has opened, offering many Italian favorites and an assortment of other food, at a location familiar to many long-time area residents.

Castello’s Pizza and Pasta has moved into and renovated the former site of DeStefano’s Spaghetti House at 545 Main St.

In recognition of the many years that business served the community, owner Heidi Sullivan recruited Delores DeStefano, who operated it for many years with the help of her family, to cut the ribbon used as a welcome by the Brooke County Area Chamber of Commerce.

The new restaurant’s menu includes standard cheese pizza with choice of toppings as well as buffalo chicken, Hawaiian and meat lover’s pizzas and Castello’s own white pizza.

Italian favorites on the menu include ravioli, lasagna, gnocchi, chicken Parmesan and pasta with meat or marinara sauce and calzones with choice of more than a dozen ingredients.

There also are cheeseburgers, a BLT, Reuben sandwich and chicken, steak and fish sandwiches, several salads and coffees with various flavorings and other beverages.

The dessert menu includes New York cheesecake, tiramisu and assorted pies.

There also are gluten- or sugar-free options for lunch, dinner or dessert, including pizza with a gluten-free cauliflower crust.

On Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the restaurant offers a breakfast buffet with many popular breakfast entrees.

The restaurant’s hours for the remainder of the week are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with the kitchen open to prepare pizza from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Disc jockey GCon was on hand during the ribbon cutting to play hits from Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and other classic crooners, and there are plans to offer karaoke nights and other entertainment there on weekends.

Also in the works are the My Way Cafe and Lounge and a banquet hall, for private events, at the same location.

The restaurant offers catering. For information, call (304) 505-6014 or visit its Facebook page.
