BEGINNER BAND — The beginning sixth-grade band includes: Julianna Anderson, Alena Austin, Mason Bailey, Joseph Bocek, Jasmine Bremiller, Lucas Cerilli, Anthony Gotschall, Matthew Jagela, Vanessa Johnson, Aidan Jones, Skylar Kuhn, Bailey Lorello, Noah Magnone, Lucas Martin, Hailey Mazon, Makenzie Moore, Savannah Moore, Morgan Norman, Isaiah Pearson, Will Rice, Madison Sims, Tucker Smith, Damarr Turner and Keirstyn Wade. The group performed “Marching Madness,” “Rock This Band,” “Serenade,” “Invaders,” “Academic Festival Overture,” “My Old Kentucky Home,” “Morning,” “Sakura,” Theme from “New World Symphony,” “Ode to Joy,” “Surprise Symphony” and “The Great Gate of Kiev.”
PERFORMING TOGETHER — The Weir High and Middle school bands performed “Country Roads” together to finish out the annual spring concert held Thursday at the high school’s Milton J. Weinberg Theater. Each of the three groups played a selection of pieces before coming together for “Country Roads,” the traditional finish for the spring concert. -- Summer Wallace-Minger

The Weir Middle and High school concert bands performed their joint spring concerts Thursday at the high school's Milton J. Weinberg Theater.
The high school concert band was joined by the seventh and eighth grade band and the beginning sixth grade band for the one-and-a-half hour performance which saw each group performing a variety of songs, including those from the recent concert band competition staged at John Marshall High School.
The high school band also performed "Warszawo Ma," or "My Warsaw,"and Agata Laziuk, an exchange student from Minsk-Mazowiecki, Poland, translated the lyrics, which speak about the Holocaust, but particularly the destruction of Warsaw's Jewish quarter, better known as the "Warsaw Ghetto." Agata, a member of the band, led efforts to establish a Holocaust Remembrance Day program at the school.
The concert was concluded with all three bands participating in a joint performance of John Denver's "Country Roads," the state anthem.
