Board is seeking amateur photographers for contest

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District Board is seeking amateur photographers to take part in an annual contest.

The 2017 photography competition’s deadline is Sept. 8, according to soil and water conservation district officials.

Ken Perkins, the board’s public relations chair, stated, this year’s contest categories are intended to bring out the creative and interpretive talents of local photography enthusiasts.”

A $50 cash award will be awarded to the photographers for the top winning photo in the two competition categories, which are nature in the villages and cities and fields of …

The categories were selected to challenge amateur photographers in conservation, agriculture, natural resources and outdoor activities. Applicants are encouraged to locate such areas in the villages and/or cities category that display green spaces, parks, community gardens, etc., in an urban setting. In the fields of … category, photographers are open to capture photos of natural resources and agriculture “found in fields” within Jefferson County. Such examples are fields of flowers, fields of cows and fields of hay.

Photographers may submit multiple entries but are limited to a total of three overall entries.

Applicants are encouraged to be imaginative as they interpret the themes of the competition. The photos must be taken at a location in Jefferson County; however the photographer is not required to reside in the county.
