expanding fish fry menu
BRILLIANT -- The Brilliant American Legion has added shrimp to its first Friday fish fry menu beginning Feb.1.
Shrimp dinners will be $9, and shrimp baskets will be $6. The shrimp is "a welcome addition" to the menu that includes a choice of battered or Coleman's breaded fish sandwiches for $6; fish dinners for $9; and chicken tenders, four for $6 or a dinner for $9, a spokesperson noted.
Dinners come with bread, French fries and cole slaw. Orders can be called in to (740) 598-3515. Limited delivery will be available.
The Brilliant American Legion hosts a fish fry on the first Friday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Super Bowl Eve tailgate
party scheduled Saturday
WEIRTON -- The eighth-annual Super Bowl Eve Tailgate Party to benefit the Weirton United Way will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Pepsi Cola Roadhouse in Burgettstown, Pa.
The event includes music, free food and free draft beer. Tickets are $25 per person in advance or $30 per person at the door, if available. Reserved tables are available with the purchase of eight or more tickets.

Attendees must be 21 or over to attend and are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team apparel.
All proceeds benefit the Weirton United Way Super Bowl Fundraiser.
Interested individuals can register for an opportunity to win the grand prize drawing of a $1,500 VISA gift card. Tickets for that drawing, courtesy of First Choice America and WTOV 9, are $5 each. The winner need not be present.
Jewett VFD to host
fundraiser dinner Feb. 10
JEWETT -- The Jewett Volunteer Fire Department will host a fundraiser baked steak and baked chicken dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 10.
The meal will include a salad bar, bread, dessert and beverage. The cost for an adult meal is $10 and $6 for children.
