Quest for Success hosting

movie day event Jan. 26

RAYLAND — The Quest for Success program is inviting youth to take part in a special movie day event at the Brightway Center scheduled for Jan. 26.

The free festivities will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at the center located at 2511 county Road 15 in Rayland. Attendants will view “The Incredibles 2,” and a concession stand will be available with refreshments.

Quest for Success, which is sponsored by the Jefferson County Educational Service Center and funded through the 21st Century Grant, serves Jefferson County students in grades five through eight who attend Buckeye Local, Edison, Indian Creek, Steubenville, Toronto, Bishop John Mussio and Jefferson County Christian schools. It works to bolster math and literacy skills as well as social development.

This is a community event, and participants do not have to be in the Quest for Success program to attend. Transportation can be arranged if needed, and participants must RSVP by Jan. 23 by contacting Martariesa Fiala, community coordinator, by phone at (740) 283-3347, Ext. 100, or by e-mail to mfiala@jcesc.org.

Super Bowl Eve tailgate

party scheduled Feb. 2

WEIRTON — The eighth-annual Super Bowl Eve Tailgate Party to benefit the Weirton United Way will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Feb. 2 at the Pepsi Cola Roadhouse in Burgettstown, Pa.

The event includes music, free food and free draft beer. Tickets are $25 per person in advance or $30 per person at the door, if available. Reserved tables are available with the purchase of eight or more tickets.

Attendees must be 21 or over to attend and are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team apparel.

All proceeds benefit the Weirton United Way Super Bowl Fundraiser.

Interested individuals can register for an opportunity to win the grand prize drawing of a $1,500 VISA gift card. Tickets for that drawing, courtesy of First Choice America and WTOV 9, are $5 each. The winner need not be present.

Unionport Masonic Lodge

to host fundrfaiser dinner

UNIONPORT — The Unionport Masonic Lodge, located at county Road 39, Unionport, will host a fundraiser pancake and sausage dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 26.

The cost is by donation, and carry-out will be available.

The dinner includes choice of regular or buckwheat pancake, sausage, cake, ice cream and a drink.
