Weirton Kiwanis Club to hold
quarter auction on Jan. 27
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Kiwanis Club will be holding a quarter auction on Jan. 27 at Undo's Restaurant in the Holiday Inn, 350 Three Springs Drive.
Doors open at 12:30 p.m., and the auction starts at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $5, which includes one paddle. Additional paddles are available for $1 each.

Beta Epsilon Chapter has
busy January meeting
STEUBENVILLE -- Members of the Beta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa met at Scaffidi's Restaurant in Steubenville for their January meeting with Susie Nolan acting as hostess.
Cheryl Valero opened the meeting, welcoming all members, followed by a devotional, "When God Created Woman," read by Chaplain Carolyn Gullen.
A report was filed by Treasurer Rita Zaborek, along with the minutes being presented by Secretary Jodee Verhovec. Fraternity Education committee member Carolyn Piergallini presented the "ABCs of Protocol" for members to use throughout the year.
A campaign to encourage new membership was presented by committee members Belinda Boyce and Valero. In-person contact will be an ongoing effort along with flyers in Buckeye Local teachers' mailboxes to encourage new members to join.
Chapter members were encouraged to apply for the Living Memorial Scholarship, along with scholarships sponsored by ADK for both members and nonmembers. It also was pointed out that the state convention will be held April 26 and 27 in Dublin, Ohio.
Members reviewed projects that will be continued through the year, including the Gabriel Project, Project Linus and the collection of used amber-colored pill bottles. Maxine McClure agreed to head the committee for "World Understanding."
The next meeting will be held Feb. 13 at Perkins Restaurant in Wheeling.
Weirton Elks plan wine-tasting
fundraiser for Feb. 16
WEIRTON -- The Weirton Elks will be holding a wine-tasting fundraiser event at the Weirton Elks Lodge, 3429 Main St., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Feb. 16.
The Tri-State Winemakers Club will provide wine and homemade beer. The cost is $15 per person and includes finger foods. A Chinese auction also will be part of the event.

WEIRTON -- Neon Knights will perform on Feb. 7 with music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Greater Weirton Senior Citizens Center at 3425 Main St.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and there will be music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Free refreshments will be provided.
