'Soup-er' Bowl challenge to
benefit heart association
STEUBENVILLE -- Capital Health will be hosting a "Soup-er" Bowl Challenge and welcomes area residents to participate in the fundraiser being held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville at 3102 St. Charles Drive.
Judging will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. by a panel of celebrity judges including Reno Saccoccia, Wendy Vogel; Tim Ohalek; and Dave and Tricia Maple. Mayor Jerry Barilla will present the prizes that include first place, a $100 Visa gift card; second place, a $50 Visa card; and third place, a $25 Visa gift card.
For a $5 donation, community members can sample the soups and/or chili, mingle and vote for their favorite entry. All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association.
The contestants on board are Naples, Kat's Kitchen Table, Touch of Elegance, Manfred's, PeppeBroni's, The Laurels of Steubenville, Meadows of Cadiz, Gables Care Center, Carriage Inn of Steubenville and Lancia's Nursing Home.

Story hour sessions offered
at Mary H. Weir Public Library
WEIRTON -- The Mary H. Weir Public Library will be hosting story hour sessions in its activity room from Feb. 4 through May 15.
There will be three times to choose from -- Mondays at 11 a.m., Tuesdays at 1 p.m. and Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
Registration is required to ensure ample supplies for the children. Forms are available on the main floor at the children's desk and in the activity room during story times. A library card is required.
"Enjoy this time with your children, including stories, music and movement, and both fine motor and sensory crafts/activities. Expect to get messy," a news release notes.

Super Bowl Eve tailgate
party scheduled Feb. 2
WEIRTON -- The eighth-annual Super Bowl Eve Tailgate Party to benefit the Weirton United Way will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Feb. 2 at the Pepsi Cola Roadhouse in Burgettstown, Pa.
The event includes music, free food and free draft beer. Tickets are $25 per person in advance or $30 per person at the door, if available. Reserved tables are available with the purchase of eight or more tickets.

Attendees must be 21 or over to attend and are encouraged to wear their favorite sports team apparel. All proceeds benefit the Weirton United Way Super Bowl Fundraiser.
Interested individuals can register for an opportunity to win the grand prize drawing of a $1,500 VISA gift card. Tickets for that drawing, courtesy of First Choice America and WTOV 9, are $5 each. The winner need not be present.
