Addiction discussion set

FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Branch of the Brooke County Library will be showing “NOVA: Addiction,” on Feb. 8, beginning at noon.

Viewers will discover how opioid addiction affects the brain and how evidence-based treatments are saving lives.

The screening will be followed by an informal question-and-answer session. Kerry Sneddon, the director of HealthWays Miracles Blossom, a women’s residential treatment facility in Beech Bottom, will be available for additional clarification of topics that other members in the audience might not be able to answer.

Craft class scheduled

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Library will be holding a craft class on Feb. 7, beginning at 5 p.m.

Participants will learn to make a folded hearts gift box that is perfect for Valentine’s Day. All the materials will be provided, but those interested need to bring a pair of scissors.

Book talk, signing Feb. 8

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Library invites the public to attend a book talk and signing on Feb. 8 at 5 p.m.

Pennsylvania author M. Earl Smith will discuss his book, “Stars Over Latin America.”

The book is about two young men who begin a journey across Latin America on the back of a rundown motorcycle called “The Mighty One.” They have no idea how much the voyage will change their lives.

Smith is a historian, professor and author from Philadelphia. He teaches English at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., while pursuing a master of fine arts degree in creative writing at Pine Manor College. He previously has written books for children and adults as well as having numerous short stories and poems published in anthologies.

The event is free open to the public, but limited space is available. Books will be available to purchase. Call the circulation desk at (304) 737-1551 to register.

Resume help being offered

WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Branch of the Brooke County Public Library will be offering a class to assist in creating a resume from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 9

Instruction is provided by Tiffany Grimm working in partnership with Internet Essentials by Comcast. Those interested should bring all the information needed to create the resume.

Walk-ins are welcome, but registration can be made by contacting the circulation desk at (304) 737-1551.
