Weirton VFW auxiliary
hosting breakfast Saturday
WEIRTON — The auxiliary to the Panhandle Post 2716 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the VFW, located at 3435 Main St.
The menu will include scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, ham, coffee and orange juice. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Toddlers eat free.
“The public is welcomed to come out and support our veterans,” a spokeswoman noted.
Wine and craft beer fest
March 2 in Follansbee
FOLLANSBEE — A wine and craft beer fest featuring local wine and craft beer makers will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on March 2 at the Follansbee Community House on Main Street.
Tickets are $15 per person or two for $25 and will be available at the door. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Brooke/Hancock Team, Pennies from Heaven.
The event will include appetizers, a 50-50 drawing, Chinese auctions and grand prize drawings at 8 p.m.

Weirton Elks plan formal
dress resale event for Feb. 23
WEIRTON — Looking to buy or sell gently used formal dresses, shoes or jewelry?
The Weirton Elks Lodge No. 1801 at 3429 Main St. is planning a formal dress resale event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 23.
The cost is $10 per table with “all sales are yours to keep,” according to a promotional flyer. Participants should bring their own clothing rack.

‘Blind Date with a Book’
STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County will be hosting its annual “Blind Date with a Book,” which will be held Feb. 11-16.
“Stop in this week at any library branch to pick up a book,” notes Jennifer Cesta, the library’s public relations coordinator. “You won’t know the title of the book until after checkout.”

YWCA wine-tasting set
for Saturday postponed
STEUBENVILLE — The YWCA of Steubenville, located at 320 N. Fourth St., has postponed its wine-tasting fundraiser that was to have been held on Saturday.
The event will be rescheduled for the spring, according to Sophie Spencer, YWCA executive director.
Wellsburg Elks Lodge plans
dance, paint and sip
WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Elks Lodge No. 1553 at 834 Charles St. has two upcoming events open to the public.
A sweetheart dance will be held from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 16. The cost is $10 per person. Attendees must be 21 or older. There will be a disc jockey and a cash bar.
A “St. Patty’s Fun” paint and sip will be held there on Feb. 22, beginning at 6 p.m.
The cost is $35 and includes everything needed to complete slate painting for St. Patrick’s Day. The class will be taught by Nancy Van Curfen, a local artist from Cadiz.

Kiwanis continue planning
for trivia night competition
STEUBENVILLE — Members of the Kiwanis Club of Steubenville are continuing plans for their ninth-annual trivia night competition.
The yearly fundraiser, chaired by Tom Timmons, club secretary-treasurer, will be held March 9 in the Commons at Steubenville High School, beginning at 7 p.m. It offers participants an opportunity to “test your knowledge and join us for this fun, fast-paced trivia competition.”
The club is continuing to recruit teams interested in participating — returning teams and new ones.
The entry fee is $120 per team for up to 10 people on a team with the fee including 10 mulligans. Teams will compete for cash prizes — first place, $500; second pace, $250; and third place, $100 — and bragging rights at the fundraiser that also will include a Chinese auction and a 50-50 drawing. Teams may bring their own snacks.
Sue Busler, Timmons’ sister, will return to serve as event emcee.
