Mingo Lions install members, present Chevrons

MINGO JUNCTION -- The Mingo Lions Club members held their March dinner meeting at the residence of Jeff Schuetz with President William Snyder presiding.

The opening prayer was given by Dr. William Johns. James Freiling led in opening exercises and gave a report as did Clara Sue Milewsky.

Snyder introduced guest Bill Schultz, a Mingo Junction native, past district governor and District 7 governor-elect. He installed new members Doreen Turner Gualtiere and Bill Gualtiere, sponsored by Schuetz, and Allyson Byrley, sponsored by Freiling. He presented Ohio Lions centennial calendars to the new members.

Members receiving 15-year Chevrons were Jo Ann Johns and Leroy Milewsky.

Discussion was held on the Halloween project, which will be addressed again at the April meeting. The reverse drawing also will be a topic.

Information was given on the district convention to be held April 26-28 in Canton and the state convention, which will be held May 17-19 in Dublin.

Freiling updated members on the Cherry Blossom Park event to be held April 17, beginning at 5 p.m. The Lions will continue their participation in that. Freiling also discussed several upcoming events that will be happening in Mingo, among them Community Days, a JSW Steel luncheon and Capt. Nick Hauck Day.

A second reading on the slate of officers was held. The election will be in April. The installation will be in May.

Schultz offered a few remarks and gave the closing prayer.

The next meeting was changed to April 10 since the Cherry Blossom event will be held on the club's regular meeting day. It will be held at Schuetz's home. Leroy and Clara Sue Milewsky will be the callers.
