Muskies chapter winners listed

HOPEDALE — Hopedale Chapter 18 of Muskies Inc. held its annual awards banquet and dinner March 16 with 42 members and guests attending, including three of the original five founding members.

During the awards presentation, Bernie Klug was presented awards for top points, 578; top releases with 55 releases in 2018; and Lunker of the Month for February.

Ben Klug received awards for largest release at 48 inches caught at Piedmont Lake; first Ohio Muskie, a 31-incher caught at Piedmont Lake Feb. 28, 2018; and Lunker of the Month for March.

Bradley Zonker received a plaque for top junior release, two fish for 16 points.

Linda Zonker received awards for 10 or more fish caught, 18 fish for 213 points; first Ohio Muskie, a 43-incher caught at Piedmont Lake in May 2018; and for finishing sixth internationally in the women’s division.

Donna Ball received a plaque for her international finish at ninth in the women’s division.

Chet Snezak was recognized for reaching the men’s master division with 254 overall total fish. Bill Zonker received his Century patch for 103 fish all time. David White received a plaque for his second-place international finish in the men’s master division and two stars for the Century Club with 1335 fish all time.

Susan Matuska received the Louis Vidoni Memorial Award for Member of the Year, chosen by member voting. She is the first woman to receive this award.

Prize winners were Bill Zonker and Jim Patterson. Lynn Morrel won he 50-50 drawing. All members who attended the 2018 tournaments received lure prizes.

Top club finishers for 2018 were: David White, 164 caught with 2069 points; and Bernie Klug, 55 caught for 578 points. Five club members have now reached the masters division. Also acknowledged were Bradley Zonker, juniors with two releases for 16 points; Linda Zonker with 18 releases and 213 points; and Donna Ball with 16 releases and 177 points.

Meetings are held at Pine Valley Sportsman Club. The first tournament will be held April 27 at Piedmont Lake. Tournament release forms can be found on the chapter’s website
