STEUBENVILLE — The LaBelle Neighbors Who Care will host its first Ohio Valley Community Choice Awards for Best of the Best in dining in the Ohio Valley on Saturday at Eastern Gateway Community College.

The public is invited to the awards brunch, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at EGCC’s Founders Hall. For ticket information, go to www.labellenwc.org or call (740) 632-5900. Tickets are available in advance or at the door.

“You voted and now your favorite picks will be announced and honored on Saturday during our brunch,” explained Asantewa Anyabwile, group president.

“It is with great privilege that we announce two of this year’s OVCCA Trail Blazer Awards,” Anyabwile said, noting that these awards go to businesses that have exceeded in one of four categories.

Among the recipients for these awards are Brenda Ware, owner of Miss Brenda’s Cafe, who exceeds in the category of community service. The Legacy award goes to Shane Hitchcock of Yummy’s Homemade Ice Cream.

Other Trailblazer awards will be announced along with winners in various categories, including favorite pizza, bakery/desserts, caterers, Italian, breakfast, Mexican, fast food and other choice places to eat and drink, according to Anyabwile.

“Come out on Saturday and enjoy a delicious Mother’s Day brunch while supporting and honoring our local businesses,” Anyabwile noted. “By supporting this event, you also will be assisting LaBelle Neighbors Who Care in continuing its work in the community. And, because we are a nonprofit organization, your donations are tax-deductible.”
