YWCA offering summer day
camps through July 31
STEUBENVILLE -- The YWCA of Steubenville, located at 320 N. Fourth St., is continuing to host its "Girls Empowerment" summer day camp.
It will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays through July 31. It is for area girls who are ages 6-11.
It will feature field trips, swimming, crafts and other activities but have a focus on theater, according to YWCA Executive Director Sophie Spencer, who said participants will write and perform their own production.

4-H Foundation provides
summer food service program
NEW CUMBERLAND -- The Hancock Co. 4-H Foundation Inc. is sponsoring the federally funded summer food service program as part of its 2019 Hancock Co. 4-H Camp.
The camp will be held July 16-20 at the group camp at Tomlinson Run State Park.
Meals will be provided to all eligible children free of charge. To be eligible to receive free meals at a residential camp or an enrolled program, children must meet the income guidelines for reduced price meals in the National School Lunch Program. Children who are part of households that receive SNAP and/or TANF assistance are automatically eligible to receive free meals.

'Pins for Paws' fundraiser
July 13 at Holiday Lanes
WINTERSVILLE -- The Jefferson County Humane Society will be hosting a "Pins for Paws" bowling fundraiser on July 13 at Holiday Lanes, 3745 Main St., Weirton.
The bowling sessions are from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A $25 fee includes two hours of bowling, shoes, pizza, pop and snacks. The event will include a cash bar, a 50-50 drawing, strike ball and Chinese auction.
Tickets are on sale at the humane society, located at 200 Airport Road, Wintersville, where the phone number is (740) 314-5583 and also at the Holiday Lanes.
A future fundraiser planned by the humane society is a "Barks, Beer & BBQ" set for 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 21 at Dungeon Hollow Brewing Co., located at 572 county Road 22A, Bloomingdale. A $25 event tickets includes a pulled pork dinner with sides and dessert, bonfire and music. A carryout dinner ticket is available for $12. The fundraiser will include a cash bar, a 50-50 drawing and a Chinese auction.
Four Seasons Seniors hear
reports, enjoy music
WEIRTON -- The Four Seasons Seniors held their June meeting at Undo's with Gene Viola presiding. Tony LaRosa gave the opening and closing prayers.
After dinner, members enjoyed songs by David and Shari Jo Watkins. Committee reports were read and birthdays acknowledged as were cards sent on the club's behalf.
The menu for July will be a picnic buffet.
Valerie Rowland won the 50-50 drawing as well as the Undo's gift card. Other prize winners were Norma Yoho, Betty Wamsley, Bev DiBiase and Carolyn Shaffer.
The next meeting will be held July 17.
Retired railroaders having
monthly breakfast meetings
CHESTER -- A monthly meeting welcoming all retired railroaders and crafts meets on the last Thursday of the month.
Retirees are encouraged to meet at 11 a.m. for breakfast at EJ's Restaurant, located at 807 Carolina Ave. A spokesperson noted any retired railroader is invited. It doesn't matter from where or what company, division or department.
The purpose of the meetings is to help protect railroad pensions and help keep an eye on legislation that may affect them. It also is to foster a sense of solidarity. The meetings will be held at 11 a.m. on the last Thursday of the month at EJ's Restaurant.
