Animal Welfare League seeks
donations for rummage sale
Saturday at Aladdin Land
WINTERSVILLE -- The Animal Welfare League is planning a rummage sale fundraiser for Saturday but could use some help with donations, according to organizers Arlene MacQuown and Kim Hohlmayer.
Donations can be dropped off from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Aladdin Land, located on county Road 166 off Reeds Mill between Wintersville and Belvedere.
All donations are welcomed, with the exception of big appliances and big furniture.
The sale itself will be held at Aladdin Land from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The fundraiser also will include a 50-50 drawing, crafts and a bake sale.

Brooke Library Recipe Club
cooking up fun Tuesday
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library has scheduled the next event for the adults-only Recipe Club.
The group will meet at noon on Tuesday in the River Room with a theme of "Garden Recipes."
Every month there is a theme. Those participating choose a recipe, make it and bring it into the library with a copy of the recipe, share the finished product, swap recipes and engage in fellowship.

'A Star is Born' to be shown
Friday at Brooke Library
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Library will be showing the film "A Star is Born," rated R, beginning at noon on Friday.
"A Star is Born" stars four-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper and multiple award-winning, Oscar-nominated music superstar Lady Gaga.
Popcorn and water will be provided by the library. Those attending must be 18 or older or be accompanied by a parent.

Free aerobics classes
at WVNCC's Weirton campus
WEIRTON -- As a community service, the Weirton campus of West Virginia Northern Community College is offering a free aerobics class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in room 243, beginning on Sept. 3.
The class is low-impact with the emphasis on cardiorespiratory endurance, strength (stretchy bands are provided) and flexibility.
Everyone is encouraged to work at his or her own pace. There is no chair or floor work.
Students should wear lose or stretchy clothes and athletic shoes and should bring a bottle of water. Enrollment forms will be available in class, and enrollment is continuous. The instructor is Carol Teaff.
