STEUBENVILLE -- Special education and adult transitional programs in the Ohio Valley will be the topics at the third in a series of Labelle Neighbors Who Care town hall meetings set for Oct. 24.
It will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in lecture 2100 at Eastern Gateway Community College.
Speakers will include Rose Raveaux, director of behavioral health, Coleman Professional Services, child and adolescent therapist; Cookie West, director of adult transitional programs for the Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities; and Stephanie Chester, registered nurse, director of Women, Infant and Children for the Jefferson County Health Department.
"We will be presenting our third in a series of informative open community forums," explained Asantewa Anyabwile, president of Labelle Neighbors Who Care.
"Among topics to be discussed will be services for children with special needs and training and program information for special-needs adults who are facing life's challenges and want to be as independent as possible," she noted.
Audience participation is encouraged.
"We present information so that residents can gain insight about our community and its resources," she added.
Labelle Neighbors Who Care is a small nonprofit community organization that has served the Steubenville area since 1999, according to Anyabwile.
"Part of our mission is to impart pertinent and timely information to the community at large. We believe that the more informed people are, the better they are prepared for life and its choices."
