Wine-tasting fundraiser set for

Saturday at Weirton VFW post

WEIRTON — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Panhandle Post 2716 will be hosting a wine-tasting event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday in the post hall at 3435 Main St.

The fundraiser includes snacks and a special take-home wine glass. There will be 16 wine vendors. Tickets are $15, and the first 200 sold includes five opportunities to win $200 based on the W.Va. lottery number drawn that day. A DJ will round out the evening in the canteen. Country Friends announces

entertainment for weekend

COLLIERS — Country Friends Foundation will host the K- Dance Band on Friday and the Moonlite Special on Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 67 Police Lodge Road, Colliers.

The doors open at 6 p.m., the dance starts at 7 p.m., and the hall closes at 10 p.m. for both events. There is a $5 cover charge per person on dance nights.

Open mic is Monday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the covered-dish meal is served at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. There is no cover charge on Mondays, but donations are appreciated.

Play and Learn the Alphabet, for parents with children ages 2-6, will be held Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Children will play with letter-learning toys to enhance early literacy skills.

Trip proceeds to benefit

Music and Art at Oak Glen

NEW MANCHESTER — There will be an overnight charter tour the weekend of May 9-10, 2020, that will enable families to experience the sights and sounds of New York City.

The trip is open to students of all ages and all school districts, but participating students must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. A highlight of the trip will be orchestra seating to see a performance of “Frozen,” the Broadway musical, at the St. James Theatre.

“The trip will include a complete, sight-filled itinerary for all, but will enable those wanting separate free time to set up much of their own schedule,” according to a news release. Overnight accommodations will be at the historic Wall Street Inn. The cost per person ranges from $277 to $328, based upon double, triple or quad occupancy, and covers round-trip transportation, overnight accommodations and theater seating. All proceeds from the tour will benefit the annual MSL — Music and Art at Oak Glen event. There are a limited number of spaces available. Toys 4 Toronto collecting

gifts for boys and girls

TORONTO — Toys 4 Toronto is once again collecting new and gently used toys for boys and girls in the Toronto school district for Christmas.

Children’s ages range from newborn to 13. Toys can be dropped off at North River Avenue Christian Church, 207 N. River Ave., or any participating businesses and churches. Monetary donations also are welcome and can be sent to P.O. Box 364, Toronto,OH 43964.
