Farmers' Winter Breakfast

Series to continue in 2020

STEUBENVILLE -- Ohio State University Extension will host a Farmers' Breakfast Series in Steubenville every third Friday starting this month and continuing through April

The first session is set for Jan. 17 at the OSU Extension Jefferson County office in Suite 512 at 500 Market St., Steubenville. Each session will run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will cover farm management topics for local producers and provide opportunities for networking with local farmers, agencies and industry experts, according to Erika Lyon, agriculture and natural resources educator, Ohio State University Extension Jefferson and Harrison counties.

January's topic will cover the topic of understanding oil and natural gas leases. "In recent years, Jefferson County has experienced an increase in natural gas activity with many landowners approached by companies about leasing for natural gas wells," noted Lyon. Clif Little, Extension educator in Guernsey County, will cover well and pipeline agreements.

Future sessions will include topics on evaluating the types and costs of lime, hemp production in Ohio and record-keeping and farm accounting ledgers.

The cost of each session is $5 and includes breakfast. Pre-registration is required and can be done by contacting the OSU Extension office at (740) 264-2212 or send an e-mail to lyon.194@osu.edu one week before each session. Questions about other farm management subjects can be directed to Lyon at (740) 264-2212, ext. 203.

OSU Extension will provide accommodations to handicapped individuals needing assistance to participate in Extension programs. If you require accommodations to attend programs or to access information, contact the Extension office at the above number.
