Country Friends announces

entertainment for Saturday

COLLIERS -- Country Friends Foundation doesn't have an event scheduled for tonight, but the Country Friends Band will entertain on Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 67 Police Lodge Road, Colliers.

The doors open at 6 p.m., the dance starts at 7 p.m., and the hall closes at 10 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge per person.

Open mic is Monday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the covered-dish meal is served at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. There is no cover charge on Mondays, but donations are appreciated.

Census job fair Monday

at YWCA of Steubenville

STEUBENVILLE -- The YWCA of Steubenville, located at 320 N. Fourth St., will be hosting a 2020 census job fair on Monday.

It will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The pay rate is $16 per hour. Applicants will be able to apply online at both fairs.

According to a news release, the census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers and many other use to provide daily services, products and support for our community.

Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads and other resources based on census data. RUN FRIDAY

WSX Management Club

scheduled to meet Monday

WEIRTON -- The Weirton Steel Management Club will meet on Monday at Giovanni's Family Restaurant, Pennsylvania Avenue in Weirton, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

All members, former members and guests are invited to attend the dinner and social time.

Role of nurses during Civil War

to be roundtable lecture topic

WHEELING -- Dr. Tom McFadden, a specialist in geriatric physical therapy at Wheeling Hospital, will present a lecture on "The Role of Nurses During the Civil War" when the Ohio Civil War Roundtable meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Ohio County Public Library.

The lecture is sponsored by the rountable and is open to the public. The regular monthly meeting for the group will follow his presentation.

McFadden graduated from West Virginia University and earned certification from Emory University in Atlanta. His doctorate work was completed at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va.

Retired railroaders having

monthly breakfast meetings

CHESTER -- A monthly meeting welcoming all retired railroaders and crafts meets on the last Thursday of the month.

Retirees are encouraged to meet at 11 a.m. for breakfast at EJ's Restaurant, located at 807 Carolina Ave. A spokesperson noted any retired railroader is invited. It doesn't matter from where or what company, division or department. The average meeting time will be "an hour or so."
