Ohio History Alliance to hold
local meeting March 21 at Fort
STEUBENVILLE -- The annual meeting of Region 5 of the Ohio Local History Alliance will be held at Historic Fort Steuben on March 21.
The organization welcomes representatives and volunteers from historic sites and museums in Ohio to share information, resources and ideas. Under the sponsorship of the Ohio History Connection, the OLHA is committed to assisting groups throughout the state in collecting, preserving and interpreting Ohio's history.
"The alliance has 10 regions, and we are in Region 5, which includes Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Holmes, Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties," explained Judy Bratten, assistant director at Historic Fort Steuben. "Each regional meeting addresses different issues that historic sites deal with."
The local meeting's opening session will address "Building and Maintaining Relationships with Your Downtown and Community," which will be presented by Paul Zuros, director of operations at the fort, Mayor Jerry Barilla and Bratten.
Another session will be on "Reinforcing Your Mission through Special Events," presented by Shelah Pruni, director of the Reeves Museum in Dover. After lunch, Mike McElwain of the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times and Joe Rudinec will offer suggestions on "Marketing and Promoting Your Site."

Jefferson County Relay for Life
meeting scheduled for Tuesday
STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Relay For Life event leadership team and team captains will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday on the campus of Eastern Gateway Community College.
It will be held in the lecture hall, room 2100.
The meeting will include continued discussion about the Touch A Truck Community Festival and the schedule for the relay. Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting.
The relay will be held to generate funds for the American Cancer Society will again be held at Toronto Jr.-Sr. High School Clarke Hinkle Stadium. It will start at 6 p.m. on June 19 and continue until 6 a.m. June 20. "Make All Holidays Cancer Free" will be the theme. Emily Russell and Tom Simmons are co-chairs.
The new summer fundraiser called Touch A Truck Community Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 13 in the rear parking lot of the Fort Steuben Mall. It will involve first responder vehicles, a craft/vendor show and food trucks.

Soup, sandwich sale Saturday
at Bloomingdale Town Hall
BLOOMINGDALE -- A soup and sandwich fundraiser will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Bloomingdale Town Hall.
The event is being sponsored by the Make A Difference Committee with proceeds to benefit the town's July 4 celebration.
The menu will include chili, tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, crackers, cornbread, cookies and pop or water.

'Soaring with Help, Hope,
Healing' set for April 4
STEUBENVILLE -- Soaring with Help, Hope and Healing Steubenville will be held from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on April 4 at Eastern Gateway Community College's Founders Hall.
Nicole Brown Horston, founder, is host of the luncheon and presentations by Dr. Vanessa Palmer, breast cancer awareness and self-care; addiction counselor Steve Wilson; and authors Shari Prichard and Monica Madden.

I hope to inspire others to transform their lives from witnessing what other V.I.P.s have done." V.I.P., "Victory in Progress," is a term Horston notes she uses "for those who keep going no matter as it describes the rewarding effects of being resilient as you reveal and heal."
