haluski sale at Weirton church
WEIRTON -- The "O" Club from St. Nicholas Orthodox Church is holding a haluski sale starting immediately with March 17 as the order deadline.
One quart is $8 with pick-up on March 20 from 3-6 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church Fellowship Hall, 604 Colliers Way, Weirton, directly across from Weirton Medical Center.
To place orders, patrons should leave a voice or text message with their name, phone number and number of quarts ordered by calling (304) 748-1223 or sending a text to (304) 479-5071.
ADK Beta Alpha Chapter
to vote on slate of officers
STEUBENVILLE -- The Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority met March 3 at Malara Hall in Steubenville.
President Peggy Pyle presided, introducing Cullen DeSantis, owner of the Allstate Insurance Agency in Calcutta. He detailed policies offered through his agency and answered questions concerning supplemental insurance and retirement preparation. Each member received a folder containing information about various insurance instruments.
Pyle conducted the business meeting. Chaplain Pam Fithen read "Irish Prayer" and "Irish Blessings." Secretary Joyce Cammilletti read a thank-you note from A.L.I.V.E. written in appreciation of a monetary donation from the club. Altruistic Chairman Kathy Henry collected the volunteer hours for February. Janice McClain read the proposed slate of officers for the next two years. Voting for officers will be held in April, and the installation will be conducted in May.
Each member was given literature about education in Columbia, South America, as part of the World Understanding Program.
Members were reminded to submit their reports to the state on time.
Money was collected for the Ohio Valley Health Center,
Pam Fithen, Maureen Taggart and Janis Westfall were hostesses for the evening.
The sorority's next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on April 7 at Malara Hall in Steubenville. The program will be "What's Happening, Downtown?"

Historical Park dinner set
HOPEDALE -- The 26th-annual Harrison Coal and Reclamation Historical Park dinner and auction will be held May 9 at the Hopedale Volunteer Fire Department social hall at 103 Firehouse Lane.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with dinner at 5:30 p.m. The live auction starting time is 7:30 p.m. and will be conducted by auctioneer Rick Keffer of Rick Keffer Auctions.
The guest speaker will be Chris Runyan, president of the Ohio Contractors Association.
Tickets are $20 and include a buffet-style dinner and drinks. There also will be a Chinese auction in addition to the live auction.

Runyan, who resides in Marysville, Ohio, with his wife, Noreen, has worked in the transportation industry since beginning his working career. He graduated from the University of Dayton after obtaining a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering in 1981 and a master of science degree in 1982.
Since graduation, he has worked for Eriksson Engineering in Columbus; the Federal Highway Administration; the Ohio Department of Transportation; Trumball Corp. of Pittsburgh; and MS Consultants Inc. of Columbus.
On Jan. 1, 2007, he began his tenure as president of the Ohio Contractors Association, a role in which he manages the association's statewide operations, including legislative advocacy, regulatory agency coordination and member services offerings and interaction. The OCA staff provides services on behalf of the more than 200 contractor members and 300 associate members of the OCA.
12th-annual talent show
seeking participants
WEIRTON -- The Weir High Class of 2021 is seeking talented acts for the 12th-annual Kinsley S. Ard Memorial Talent Show, which will be held at 6 p.m. on April 17 at the Milton J. Weinberg Theatre at Weir High School.
Prizes will be awarded for three categories: Elementary, kindergarten through fourth grade; middle, grades five through eight; and high school, grades nine through 12.
Only 15 acts will be accepted for each category. For information, contact Mrs. Higgins or Mrs. Bandy at Weir High School at (304) 748-7600. All proceeds benefit the Class of 2021 and the Kinsley S. Ard Scholarship.
Pleasant Hill VFD to host
Election Day food sale
STEUBENVILLE -- The Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will be holding a fundraiser Election Day soup and sandwich sale on March 17 from 11 a.m. until sold out.
The department is located at 3297 state Route 213.
Soups include chicken noodle, potato and Irish stew. Sandwiches include sloppy joes and shredded chicken. For carryout, call (740) 282-9601.
Country Friends announces
entertainment for Saturday
COLLIERS -- Country Friends Foundation will host the Moonlite Special Station band as the entertainment on Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 67 Police Lodge Road, Colliers.
The doors open at 6 p.m., the dance starts at 7 p.m., and the hall closes at 10 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge per person.
Open mic is Monday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the covered-dish meal is served at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. There is no cover charge on Mondays, but donations are appreciated.
