‘Zalia’ kick-off book signing

in New Cumberland canceled

NEW CUMBERLAND — Co-authors Tom Zielinsky of Weirton and George B. Hines III of New Cumberland have announced that the book signing of their lastest project, “Zalia, Hancock County, West Virginia — Rediscovering a Lost Community,” has been canceled.

It was to have been held on March 29 at the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

“Taking the recommendations of our national and local health organizations to ‘social distance’ we have canceled our signing date,” Zielinsky noted in an e-mail. “We will work with the library after the Easter holiday to reschedule the signing for April. However, this really depends on the progress we’re making with the virus.”

The book signing scheduled for April 25 at the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center, 3149 Main St., Weirton, is still planned for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. “We will carefully evaluate that situation over the next several weeks before making a final decision to either continue or cancel as well,” Zielinsky noted.

The books, which are signed by both authors and sell for $15, will be available March 27 at the Davis Pharmacy’s in New Cumberland and Chester and the Weirton Museum and Cultural Center in Weirton. Books also will be available at the Swaney Library when the library reopens. It is presently closed.
