Refurbished sign

With April being Child Abuse Prevention Month, the GFWC Woman's Club of Mingo placed pinwheels at the south end of town beneath the sign made possible because of the club. In 2008, the club presented the concept and design of the sign, with council approving the funding. It was dedicated to longtime woman's club member and humanitarian Darlene Hoff, who has since died. The pinwheels are a national symbol for child abuse prevention and are placed by the Mingo club in an effort to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect. The sign recently was refurbished by George Taylor, the husband of member Diana Taylor. The sign was blue and gold, which are the woman's club colors, but were changed to match the other Welcome to Mingo Junction sign on Logan Avenue.
