BETHANY -- Graduates of Bethany College's Class of 2020 included the following area residents:
Kristen M. Ewing of Follansbee; Amanda G. Casto of Wellsburg, magna cum laude; Michael A. Ceraolo of Weirton, summa cum laude; Payge J. Farmer of Wellsburg; Kevin A. Nuckols of Weirton; and Mollie A. Williams of New Cumberland, cum laude.
2020 All-Ohio Academic Team
COLUMBUS -- Nearly 70 students from Ohio's community college system have been named to the All-Ohio Community College Academic Team for their excellence in academics, leadership and community service.
"With our commitment to providing an accessible and high-quality postsecondary education, Ohio's community colleges offer pathways that ensure the academic and career success for our students" said Jack Hershey, president and CEO of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges. "With the many challenges facing our communities at this moment, these students who were selected to the 2020 All-Ohio Academic Team serve as shining examples of what makes our community colleges so special."
The All-Ohio Academic Team program is a longtime collaboration between the OACC, Phi Theta Kappa and the event sponsor, Honda of America Manufacturing Inc.
"On behalf of OACC and our partners, we are extremely proud of these students for all they have accomplished. We celebrate their academic excellence and we look forward to seeing them continue their journey to become leaders in their professions," Hershey said.
These top-performing students were nominated by faculty, staff and their peers. Students recognized as first-team honorees will receive $1,000 scholarships, while second-team members earn a $500 scholarship, and third-team members receive a $250 scholarship.
The OACC represents the presidents and trustees of the state's 23 community colleges.
This year's winners include Eastern Gateway Community College third-team representatives Kathryn Buchholz, Sarah Lathery, Tracy Jackson and James Alen.
