Steubenville Arts Association sets sights on Sept. 16 meeting

STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville Art Association will hold its first meeting of 2020 beginning at 5 p.m. on Sept. 16 in the conference room of Historic Fort Steuben, 120 S. Third St.

It begins with a covered-dish dinner with Gina Judy, Paula Siebieda and Fran Veltri serving on the social committee.

The organizational meeting will include discussions about future speakers, workshop ideas and the "Celebrate Steubenville Today" art show scheduled for two weeks beginning Oct. 10 at Eastern Gateway Community College. There will be two divisions -- adult and high school students.

Prizes will be awarded. Any artist within 40 miles of Steubenville who did not receive a prospectus this summer should contact the association to obtain one.

Elective ballots were sent out by regular mail and by e-mail with the following officers re-elected: President, Judy Schmidt; vice president, Gina Judy; secretary, Fran Veltri; treasurer, Suzan Corder; and trustees, Dale Biesecker and Tina Sokolowski.

Larry King will remain the appointed parliamentarian, and all committee chairs will remain the same as appointed by Schmidt last term. They are: Spring show and civic shows chair, Jim Watson; membership, Llelia Buffone; scholarship, Jeanne D'Anniballe; social media and publicity, Judy; and social, Patricia Westfall. Schmidt is seeking a volunteer to be remembrance chair.

In other art association news, several members have been exhibiting, mostly online, because of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, or will be featured in upcoming exhibits.

Dale Biesecker of Follansbee is one of three artists to be featured in the "Defining Voices" exhibition at the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center. The opening reception was Saturday.

Buffone of Steubenville will continue to be the featured SAA artist at Historic Fort Steuben, which is now open.

D'Anniballe of Steubenville will have her work in the Pittsburgh Society of Artists Member Show "Waterworks" at the Panza Gallery in Millvale, Pa., in July.

Judy of Richmond attended the opening of "Aqua-Venture" of the Kentucky Watercolor Society, in Lexington, Ky., on March 11, receiving fifth place with the Preston Art Center Award at the opening reception.

She also exhibited in the North Hills Art Center's "Art for Animals" fundraising exhibit. Pittsburgh; the "20-20" Show of the Cranberry Artist's Network; and has a work in the Red River Watercolor National Exhibit in Minnesota. She has six works in the Montana Watercolor Society Online Member Show and Sale hosted by Lewistown Art Center/Wilkins Gallery.

Judy additionally has a work in each of the following juried online exhibits; Spokane Watercolor Society National; Rosewood Art Gallery, Kettering, Ohio, "The View"; the Westmoreland Nationals Community Center Show; and Women's Art Club of Cincinnati Juried Regional. Online exhibits are at the West Hills Art League spring member show, honorable mention; Pittsburgh Watercolor Society; and North Hills Art Center.

In August, three works will appear in an online gallery of the French published International Art Magazine "The Art of Watercolour" to the theme "Summer Sun," a contest for subscribers. In July her work will be in the Pittsburgh Society of Artists member show Waterworks at Panza Gallery.

William Koch of Dennison has two works in the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society online and will exhibit in Waterworks, the actual Pittsburgh Society of Artists Member show being held in July.

Paula Siebieda of Bellaire was accepted into the Erie Art Museum Annual Exhibit with dates to be announced. She also was exhibited in the North Hills Art Center's "Art for Animals" fundraising exhibit, the Cranberry Artist's Network "20-20" Show and also was featured in the HOYT actual regional exhibition in New Castle, Pa., which also became an online exhibition after gallery-closing.

Online shows in which she has a work featured include Pittsburgh Watercolor Society and the North Hills Art Center. In October, she will exhibit in the Pittsburgh Society of Artists new member show, and in July in the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society Member Show "Waterworks."

Bob Watson of Weirton has two works in the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society online "During Corona" exhibit and will be included in the member show "Waterworks" of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society in July.

Ohio Valley Mopar Club to host Father's Day car cruise

WELLSBURG -- The Ohio Valley Mopar Club and Reasner Funeral Home will hold a Father's Day car cruise Sunday at Brooke Hills Park.

Registration will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the show from noon to 4 p.m.

There will be food for sale, door prizes, a 50-50 drawing and music by the disc jockey B-Keeper.

There will be up to 60 dash plaques and five trophies for best in class for participants.
