Holy Trinity Greek food items

STEUBENVILLE — Beginning next month, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Steubenville is offering area residents a taste of Greece, despite having had to cancel its summer festival because of COVID-19.

Beginning Election Day, Nov. 3, the church’s Philoptochos Society will hold a gyro sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. while also offering some additional festival items with pre-orders being accepted now through an Oct. 27 deadline by calling (740) 282-9835 or going online to www.holytrinitygreekfest.com. “We are thrilled to be able to offer our famous gyros once again this fall,” commented Parish Council President and Festival Co-Chair Anthony Mougianis. “In addition, we will be offering some additional Greek delicacies and pastries each and every month,” Mougianis said.

The food will be available on the first Tuesday of the month and will include the sale of gyros as is the normal practice of the church’s Philoptochos Society. They are $7 each and include one tzatziki with each additional one being 25 cents.

Other menu items are:

¯ Loukaniko: Grecian style sausage in a special tomato sauce, family style, six pieces, $12;

¯ Dolmathes: Lemon-scented grape leaves stuffed with a seasoned mixture of rice, meat and herbs, 10 pieces, $10;

“Online ordering will be offered, and we highly encourage to pre-order online so you are assured of getting an order. This first sale will be on Election Day Nov. 3, so we anticipate much activity for this event,” he added. “This will be a carry-out only event with no inside dining.
