Holy Trinity donation supports Friendship Room efforts in serving Christmas Day meal

By JANICE KIASKI 4 min read

STEUBENVILLE -- Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church has announced the cancellation of its annual Christmas Day Memorial Dinner this year due to COVID -19.

For nine years, Holy Trinity has been serving a free Christmas Day meal. Last year, in 2019, more than 600 meals were served.

"This year we had to make the difficult decision to cancel our annual Christmas Day dinner, due to the CDC guidelines, state guidelines and COVID safety concerns for our volunteers and guests," noted Spiro Alexander. "We are not equipped to sponsor a safe sit-down or take-out meal. We felt it was best to not hold the dinner."

Holy Trinity, however, took up a collection to help serve the community on Christmas Day and has partnered with the Friendship Room. All proceeds designated to the Agape Fund for this year's Christmas Day dinner will be donated to the Friendship Room to provide a meal at Christmas.

Donations can be made to the Agape Fund/Christmas Day Dinner, Holy Trinity, P.O. Box 788, Steubenville, OH. 43952 or made directly to The Friendship Room, 419 Logan Ave, Steubenville, OH 43952.

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is located at 300 S. Fourth St., Steubenville, OH. The telephone is (740) 282-9835. The e-mail is office@holytrinitystb.org, and the website is www.holytrinitystb.org.
