Valentines being collected
for first responders, others
Chambers and James Funeral Homes are inviting area residents to join them in thanking emergency first responders and frontline workers as well as military veterans through a collection of valentines under way through Feb. 5.
The effort is a continuation of Operation Valentine, a project through which the funeral homes began collecting valentines for veterans nine years ago.
This year the decision was made to expand the pool of recipients to the many local residents who have put themselves at risk to serve their communities, according to Eric Fithyan, the funeral homes' owner.
The cards shouldn't include glitter, food or candy and may be left between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Chambers Funeral Home in Wellsburg or James Funeral Home in Follansbee.

WVNCC offering free online aerobics class through March
WEIRTON -- West Virginia Northern Community College is offering a free online aerobics class through March 13.
The class will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. over Zoom. This is a low-impact class with an emphasis on cardiorespiratory endurance, strength improvement and flexibility, and all exercise is done standing -- there is no chair or floor work -- usually to music that is 128-140 beats per minute.
Enrollment is continuous, and anyone interested can go to https://wvncc.coursestorm.com/course/online-aerobics-course1#! to register or use a search engine and type in wvncc community ed and click on "Current Courses Available." Then click on "Community ed courses" and then "Online Aerobics Course" to register. After registering, participants will receive an e-mail with additional information. Group to videoconference
WEIRTON -- The Brooke-Hancock Family Resource Network's Community Relations Network will meet by videoconference at noon Tuesday.
The group is comprised of representatives of various agencies and community members who discuss action to address various local issues.
