Making a difference

Holding letters and sporting equipment that were part of care packages sent to military personnel from Harrison County and some surrounding counties are, from left, area residents and siblings Max Snider, Brinn Snider and Hunter Snyder. The youth grew vegetables this summer, sold them to customers and saved the money until the end of November. They used the profits to purchase sports equipment, hats, books, sweets and salty snacks and other articles that might be scarce for the packages assembled by a group of men and women who meet all four seasons of the year to pack and send the boxes from the Cadiz Firehouse Social Room. The children are in first, third and fifth grades and had letters written by their classmates to go with their package. They do this each year, noting they like growing the produce, knowing they are doing something that will bring enjoyment to those who receive it.
