Mingo Knights announce updated fish fry procedure
MINGO JUNCTION -- The Mingo Junction Knights of Columbus Monsignor Joseph F. Dooley Council 4361 is continuing its Friday fish fries at the council hall through March 27.
There will be no fish fry on Good Friday, April 2.
It is a drive-through only fundraiser in front of the building with patrons advised to call (740) 535-8037 to place orders with a volunteer. Orders can be placed on Fridays beginning at 11 a.m. Pick-up starts at noon and ends at 7 p.m.
Grand Knight Shawn Zarych explained on the Knights' Facebook page that when patrons call that number, it's line No. 1. If it's busy, stay on the line as it will roll over to the next line open. If line two is busy, it rolls over to line three.
"Please have patience when you call in," Zarych advises.
When patrons arrive in the lot, they do not need to call a number to announce their arrival. A student volunteer will take their name and bring the order to them. They need not get out of their vehicle.
Orders can be paid for by cash or by a check made payable to the Columbian Club of Mingo Junction.
The menu includes 1 pound of fish, fish sandwich, fish boat, fish dinner, shrimp dinner, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries, hush puppies, coleslaw and applesauce. For updated information, visit the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Joseph F. Dooley Council 4361 Facebook page.
February camera club competition winners listed
WINTERSVILLE -- The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club has announced February competition winners to the theme "A Happy Place."
The theme category winners were: First place, Sam Rees; second place, Dave Rees; and third place, John Hanish. The open category winners were: First place, John Hanish; second place, Dave Rees; and third place, Sam Rees. The special effects category winners were: First place, Karen Felix; second place, Melissa Taylor; and third place, Sam Rees.

Food pantry serving residents of Brooke, Hancock counties
WEIRTON -- The Brooke Hancock Family Resource Network operates a food pantry for Brooke and Hancock county residents from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at its offices at 1300 Potomac Ave.
In addition to nonperishable food, the pantry offers personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies and products for babies and young children.
Applications being accepted for Lou Holtz scholarship
Applications are being accepted until March 27 for the Lou Holtz Life Improvement Scholarship which is a renewable $5,000 scholarship to any trade school.
Funded by former college football coach Lou Holtz and his late wife, Beth the scholarships are available to graduates of the following schools: Brooke, Oak Glen, Weirton, Weirton Madonna, Wheeling, Wheeling Catholic Central, East Liverpool, American Spirit Academy, Beaver Local, Bridgeport, Buckeye Local, Buckeye on Line School for Success, Edison Local, Indian Creek, Martins Ferry, Quaker Digital Academy, Southern Local, Steubenville, Steubenville Catholic Central, Toronto, Wellsville; in Pennsylvania: Lincoln Park Performing Arts and Midland PA Cyber.
Applicants should submit their name, address, phone number, an e-mail address other than their school e-mail (which usually expires following graduation), parents' name and phone number, the name of their high school and the trade school and intended field of study they have chosen to HoltzScholarship@gmail.com.
In its 20th year, the scholarship program provides 10 $5,000 scholarships each year. Ohio Valley College of Technology, Pittsburgh Technical Institute and New Castle School of Trades offer a limited number of matching scholarships to recipients of the Holtz scholarships attending those schools.
West Liberty Alumni activity involves healthy recipes
WEST LIBERTY -- The West Liberty University Alumni Association is inviting Hilltoppers to celebrate National Nutrition Month by sharing their favorite healthy recipes during March.
Those interested are invited to share a photo, list of ingredients and instructions for their favorite dish with how-to videos also welcomed, according to Ron Witt, executive director of alumni relations and university special projects.

At the end of the month, the chef whose recipe receives the most "likes" will receive a special Black and Gold prize package compliments of the WLU Alumni Association, explained Witt, "so post your recipe and share with your friends. Let's have some fun and enjoy some healthy Hilltopper recipes."

WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library is helping the Easter Bunny to send personalized letters to children.

Community Relations Network schedules Tuesday meeting
WEIRTON -- The Brooke-Hancock Family Resource Network's Community Relations Network will meet by videoconference at noon Tuesday.

RSVP for Kiwanis meeting
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville Kiwanis Club will be holding an in-person luncheon meeting at noon on Tuesday at the Sycamore Youth Center, 301 N. Fourth St.
The guest speaker will be state Rep. Ron Ferguson, R-Wintersville. There also will be a brief business meeting.
