Fundraiser breakfast set for Saturday in Unionport
UNIONPORT -- A fundraiser breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Wayne Township Community Center in Unionport.
The menu includes pancakes and sausage, sausage gravy and biscuits, scambled eggs and toast and drinks.
Cost is by donation, and all proceeds will benefit the community center
It will be an eat-in breakfast, and all safety guidelines will be followed, according to an event spokesperson.
Hike scheduled Saturday at Beatty Park welcomes public
STEUBENVILLE -- The start of spring on Saturday brings the opportunity for area residents to participate in a hike at Beatty Park in Steubenville's South End.
Flora VerStraten-Merrin, organizer of the Friends of Beatty Park Revitalization group, reminded that Saturday's hike begins at noon and is free and open to the public. Children are welcome.
VerStraten-Merrin and John Boileigh will serve as guides.
"We'll meet at the playground. There's parking right beside the playground and before the playground right across from the first trail that we'll be hiking," she noted.
"We're going to be hiking to the 430 million-year-old tree fossil," she said.
All work dates, events and varied information related to Beatty Park are posted on the "Friends of Beatty Park" Facebook page.
Alumni Association to meet
STEUBENVILLE -- The Steubenville High School Alumni Association will have its next meeting on Tuesday at Scaffidi's Restaurant and Tavern in Steubenville. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.
Easter StoryWalk set for March 27 through April 30
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Public Library will hold an Easter StoryWalk, featuring Lois G. Grambling's "Here Comes T-Rex Cottontail," from noon to 2 p.m. March 27 through April 30.
Segments of the story will be printed on signs posted outside the library for visitors to read. The library also will be offering a limited number of accompanying activity packets, which can be obtained inside.
A StoryWalk featuring Dr. Seuss' "Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?" continues through March 31 outside the library's Follansbee branch. It has its own activity packet, which can be obtained inside the branch.
StoryWalk is an international program created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vt.
Antonio Meucci Lodge schedules April 13 meeting
WEIRTON -- The Antonio Meucci Lodge No. 2506 Sons and Daughters of Italy will have its first meeting in many months since the pandemic hit.
The meeting will be held on April 13 at Undo's, beginning at 6 p.m., according to Regina Truax, president.
Butterfly craft available at Schiappa Branch
STEUBENVILLE -- School-age children can visit the Schiappa Branch of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County on March 23 to pick up a butterfly craft to take and make at home.

Location change noted for Easter egg hunt in Mingo
MINGO JUNCTION -- The John "Wiz" Fabian Memorial Easter egg hunt in Mingo Junction has changed the location of the event.
Co-sponsored by Scott Fabian and the Mingo Knights of Columbus Council 4361, the event will be held at noon on April 3 at the Mingo Knights of Columbus Hall at 117 Legion Drive, instead of Aracoma Park.
It is for children from ages 0 to 12 and will be limited to 70 children. Pre-registration is required, and COVID-19 safety restrictions will be in place.

Spay-neuter clinic on April 10-11
STEUBENVILLE -- The Brooke County Animal Welfare League will host the next Roaming Animal Sterilization Clinic at Low Cost on April 10 and 11 at the American Legion Post 33 at 808 N. Fifth St. Any interested pet owners should call (304) 374-4443 as appointments are limited and required. No walk-ins will be accepted.
Appointments are not limited to Brooke County residents.
