Easter sunrise service and breakfast planned in Hopedale

HOPEDALE — The Hopedale United Methodist, Presbyterian and Sacred Heart Catholic churches are inviting the community to join them in their combined sunrise services, to be held this year at Hopedale United Methodist Church, located at 237 Church St.

Services begin at 7 a.m. on April 4 and will be followed by breakfast in the basement social room.

“Singing and special music will be enjoyed by all, so come on out and celebrate that ‘Christ has risen,'” a spokesperson noted.

Library offers book club, April Fool’s Day craft

STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced the following activities and programs planned at its varous locations, including:

Adults: The book club will meet for a virtual discussion on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The group will discuss “Meet Me in Monaco” by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb. Entrepreneurship program plans Saturday launch event

STEUBENVILLE — The young entrepreneurship program at the Sycamore Youth and Community Center at 301 N. Fourth St. will be having a business launch of Pets ‘N’ Stuff from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

In recent months, the students devised a business plan and obtained pet supply items which they will be selling along with refreshments and snacks on Saturday, according to Bobbyjon Bauman, center director.

East Springfield center to host dinner, Easter egg hunt

EAST SPRINGFIELD — The East Springfield Communuity Center will return to host its monthly dinner fundraisers, but they will be held on the second Thursday of the month instead of the first, organizers have voted.

The first dinner will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:30 ap.m. on April 8 at the center, which is located located on county Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department.

The dinner menu is roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, bread, dessert and drink. The cost is $9. Patrons will be able to get carryout dinners but also enjoy indoor dining with social distancing observed. Orders can be called in to (740) 543-3700.

The center also will be hosting an Easter egg hunt on April 3, beginning at 2 p.m. It will include prizes.

’30 Days of Hope’ online concert series continuing

STEUBENVILLE — The Ohio Valley Youth Network/Sycamore Youth Center is continuing its second-annual “30 Days of Hope” online concert series featuring a number of talented area youth and adults pitching in to take part in a 15-minute Facebook “Live” concert each night from 7 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on the Sycamore Youth Center Facebook Page.

Those watching will be given an opportunity to click a giving tab and contribute online to support the OVYN/Sycamore Youth Center that reaches 250 students each week through its 43 after-school programs, noted center Director Bobbyjon Bauman.
