STEUBENVILLE -- Ohio State University in Jefferson and Harrison counties will be offering two webinars in April to kick off spring.
At noon on April 7, participants can learn about the identification, ecology and diversity of a mushroom favorite -- morels, explained Erika Lyon, agriculture and natural resources educator, OSU Extension Jefferson and Harrison counties.
"This webinar will dive into the species of morels found in North America -- and those you may find in Ohio -- as well as a few mushrooms commonly mistaken as members of the Morchella genus," Lyon noted. To register, visit go.osu.edu/morelmadness2021.
During an April 15 session beginning at noon, participants will learn about the spotted lanternfly in Jefferson County and what its discovery here may mean for residents and businesses.
"This webinar will cover how to identify the spotted lanternfly, what to do if it is found and what quarantine measures have been proposed for this invasive insect in Ohio," Lyon said. Register at go.osu.edu/2021jeffcoslf.
There is no cost for the webinars, but registration is required. Questions regarding these programs can be directed to Lyon by phone at (740) 461-6136 or by e-mail to lyon.194@osu.edu.
Both webinars will be recorded and available for viewing after the live event at jefferson.osu.edu or harrison.osu.edu.
