Day of Prayer to be observed on May 6 in Wellsburg

WELLSBURG — The Wellsburg Kiwanis Club and Wellsburg United Methodist Church will observe National Day of Prayer with a service at noon May 6 on the Wellsburg Town Square.

The speaker will be the Rev. Steven Htlatky, pastor of Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church.

The Kiwanis club will provide free bagged lunches to those attending.

Brooke County library’s book club to meet May 27

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library’s Book Club will meet at 5 p.m. May 27 to discuss Peter Carey’s “True History of the Kelly Gang: A Novel.”

A limited number of people will meet in-person but others can participate vitually from their homes.

Activity packs include collage, superheroes and bouquet

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library and its Follansbee branch will offer an assortment of activity packs for pickup during the month of May.

They include materials for the Create Your Own Superhero Contest, a collage, Mothers Day straw flower bouquet, window stars, activities related to Women’s Health Month and coloring packs for young adults and adults.

Virtual story times set at Brooke County library

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library will present superhero-themed virtual story hours, using Zoom, at noon each Monday this month except Memorial Day and at 11 a.m. on each Tuesday.

The programs will include a story, singing and a craft using materials that may be picked up at the library or its Follansbee branch by calling (304) 737-1551 or (304) 527-0860 or visiting wellsburg.lib.wv.us.newsletter2.htm.

Car and motorcycle show set for Saturday at EGCC

STEUBENVILLE — Eastern Gateway Community College’s 22nd-annual car and motorcycle show will be held by the Ohio Valley Mopar Club on Saturday in the school’s parking lot.

Registration will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the show held from noon to 3 p.m.

The cost is $7 for vehicle owners, with dash plaques going to the first 100 who register.

There will be more than 20 trophies, with categories to include Ford, Street Rod, General Motors, Mopar, Truck, Post-1985, Motorcycle and Best of Show.

Food and drinks will be sold, and music will be provided by disc jockey Spikeman.
