Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary to meet June 14

WEIRTON — The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary members met May 10. President Shirley Brecht opened the meeting with prayer led by Chaplain Mary Ann Smith and Marcy Spano reading the prayer list.

Brecht led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Vice President Darlene Kemp did the roll call. Spano read the minutes of the April 12 meeting, and the treasurer’s report was given by Brecht. A report on cards sent was given.

An ice cream social hour will be in July on meeting night with members also bringing cookies. Refreshments for next month will be the auxiliary hosting with a pasta dinner.

Barbara Glessner won the 50/50 drawing, donating it back to the treasury. Spano will place the wreath on Memorial Day in honor of the auxiliary.

The bakeless bake sale will be held the month of June. The next meeting is at 6 p.m. June 14 at the VFW hall in Weirton.

Piney Fork Memorial Day program plans announced

PINEY FORK — The Piney Fork American Legion Post 735 will hold its Memorial Day program at noon on May 30 at the Legion hall grounds.

It will be followed by a luncheon provided by the auxiliary.

Weather permitting, the event will be held outside. Otherwise it will be inside the Legion hall. All are welcome to attend. Those planning to attend are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.

Because of the pandemic, the program and luncheon was not able to be held last year.
