Chapter holds first in-person meeting in more than a year

UNIONPORT — The Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher’s Sorority met in the Wayne Township Community Center in Unionport on May 4.

The members participated in a covered-dish dinner with a “Cinco de Mayo” theme. Hostesses were Michele Fabbro, Peggy Pyle and President Linda Lenzi.

Lenzi welcomed the members to the organization’s first in-person meeting in more than a year. Pyle gave an inspirational thought before the meal.

Lenzi conducted the business meeting. Door prizes were awarded to Janice McClain, Barbara Carter and Susan Nolan. Lenzi announced that the organization will return to the previous place that they had been meeting before the COVID scare — Malara Hall in Steubenville’s Holy Family Church.

The members voted to hold the September meeting at a local restaurant to be decided later. Lenzi will hold a meeting in June for club officers to plan programs.

Members should send checks for three months of summer altruistic projects to Erin DeSantis by June 1.

Lenzi introduced Ohio ADK President Susan Nolan, who awarded Beta Alpha Chapter with two state awards and commended clubs for continuing projects despite the pandemic. Nolan encouraged all members to attend future ADK conventions to meet new friends and gather new ideas. The International ADK Convention will be held in July for 10 days. Nolan encouraged the club to recruit new members.

The next regular meeting will be held in September at a location to be determined.
