First Appalachian Ohio Antique Power Show set for weekend
NEW ATHENS -- The Harrison Coal and Reclamation Historical Park grounds 43672 Stumptown Road, New Athens, (state Route 519 between U.S. Route 22 and New Athens) will host the first Appalachian Ohio Antique Power Show.
It will be held Saturday and Sunday and feature antique tractors, hit-and-miss engines, oilfield engines, garden tractors and more. All agriculture, industrial, military, logging, oil and gas, steam and transportation machinery and history are welcome.
The show runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $3. For information, call (330) 401-5129 or e-mail ohioantiquepowerclub@yahoo.com.

The Appalachian Ohio Antique Power Club 2021 Fall Gathering will be held Sept. 11 and 12 for those unable to attend the first show.
OV Cloak & Dagger to present Memorial Day-themed program
WEIRTON -- Cloak & Dagger On the Air will present a special Memorial Day-themed program at the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center on Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m.
"This two-hour production will be performed in the style of live radio drama," explained Ohio Valley Cloak & Dagger Director Pete Fernbaugh, "and it will feature a variety of stories honoring the sacrifice of our servicemen and women throughout the ages."
The evening's production includes "Untitled" by Norman Corwin, presented with permission from the Norman Corwin Estate, and "Lonely Eagles," an original play by Fernbaugh about the Tuskegee Airmen. Also featured will be adaptations of "A Horseman in the Sky" by Ambrose Bierce, "The War Prayer" by Mark Twain and "The Voice of Company A" by Michael Frost.
"Cloak & Dagger On the Air: Eulogy" is presented by the Ohio Valley Cloak & Dagger Co. and stars Chris Carter, Bethany Fernbaugh, Pete Fernbaugh, David Gaudio, Robert Gaudio, Noah Hilton, Nancy Longo, Karissa Martin and John E. Reilly, with special guest stars the Rev. Rudy and Rosie McAllister and honorary Tuskegee Airman Ambrose Bolling. Classical pianist Roberta Fedoush will present a score comprised of original and traditional pieces.
"We're excited to be able to present Cloak & Dagger's production in two ways," commented WAMCC's Executive Director Savannah Schroll Guz. First, the production will be broadcast free of charge through the Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center's Facebook page.
Viewers will have an opportunity throughout the show to donate to the museum through PayPal (https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/weirtonareamuseum).
All proceeds from livestream-related donations will benefit the museum's public programming, collection care and operating budget, Guz explained.
Second, "Cloak & Dagger On the Air: Eulogy" will be open to an in-person audience. The CDC's current COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed.
"In order to help both WAMCC and Cloak & Dagger cover the costs of production, admission will be donation-based," Guz said. "And we are so grateful for the public's support of our efforts to build community through our programming."
WAMCC is located at 3149 Main St., Weirton. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, when R.J. Gaudio, Troubadour, will perform a half-hour set of classic folk and pop music. The show will then begin promptly at 7 p.m.
Sunrise Seniors celebrate mothers, fathers, normalcy
TORONTO -- The Toronto Sunrise Seniors met at the Karaffa Recreation Center on May 14 to celebrate mothers, fathers and a return to more normal conditions.
President Barbara Pritts welcomed members and guests, thanking them for getting their vaccines, wearing masks and for social distancing. She cautioned that they still may face some hurdles, but "we are on our way back to normal."
Introduced was guest Jeff Foster and new members Joe and Sandi Radvansky, and Pritts acknowledged other invited guests -- Don and Cheryl Clarke and Mayor John Parker and his wife, Tracey, who were unable to attend because of prior commitments. She thanked Rod Henry, Toronto recreation director, for his work in getting the new meeting rooms ready.
"It has been more than a year since we first planned to move here," Pritts commented. "Rod was instrumental in getting a unisex restroom installed, ceiling tiles replaced and a parking area excavated and paved. We thank him and any other members of the city council who were involved."
A moment of silence was observed in memory of deceased members Paul Parker, Bernie White and Mary Lou Hawkins.
Pritts thanked Nancy Bodrog and her committee for the table decorations and for serving the meal, which was catered by Iggy's Restaurant.
A spring flower was awarded to a person sitting at each table. Following the meal, members played bingo with disposable bingo cards. John Lash called the numbers, and winners included Paul Sherwood, Phyllis Smith, Betty Mossor, Donna Spry, Hank Sheets, Bob Deku, Bill Black, Marion Wilson, Lucy Timko and Carolyn McCart. Deku also won the 50-50 drawing.
The June kitchen committee was announced and includes Marcella McKnight, Helen Bayne, Bill Black, Peggy Nordenger, John Lash, Paul Zink and Bonnie Wilson.
The next meeting will be held June 11. Members are asked to bring their own place setting and a covered dish to share. The main course and drinks will be provided.
Library offerings include mystery book club, ocean craft
