Brentwood UMC seeks help with back-to-school bash

WINTERSVILLE — Brentwood United Methodist Church will be holding a free mini back-to-school bash on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. as part of its Plugged In Ministry.

“During the bash, we’ll have a Christian rock band and a bonfire,” a spokesperson explained.

“We will be running the church van to the Ridgewood Place Apartments that night as well,” the spokesperson added.

Pickup will be at 5:30 p.m. with drop-off occurring at approximately 8 p.m. Individuals under age 18 will need a signed permission slip in order to ride in the van.

The church, located at 248 Stephens St., Wintersville, will be collecting donations of school supplies now through noon on Aug. 8.

“Show love in a tangible way to children and families all across Wintersville by donating brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies this summer,” the spokesperson noted. “We believe every child deserves to feel special and be set up for academic success, and you can help make this possible.”

The goal is to collect at least 50 backpacks with each backpack including the following items — a spiral notebook, a pack of No. 2 pencils, colored pencils, crayons, highlighters, sticky notes and a pack of tissues.

“Brentwood also will add an encouraging note to each backpack with a resource page for local family resources,” the spokesperson explained. For information, call (740) 264-4531 or text (740) 346-5068.
