St. Joseph Worker Parish
planning July 25 block party
WEIRTON -- St. Joseph the Worker Parish will be holding a block party from noon to 5 p.m. July 25.
It will be held at St. Joseph the Worker campus on Michael Way, Weirton. Bingo will be held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and there will be a dunk tank at 2:30 p.m. The festivities will include food trucks, a DJ, inflatables, a cornhole tournament and baskets drawings.
Veteran banners remain
available in Wellsburg
WELLSBURG -- The Wellsburg Hometown Heroes committee of the Brooke County Veterans Memorial Foundation has announced there still are spaces along Wellsburg streets for about 50 banners honoring local veterans.
Families and friends of veterans living or dead may recognize them by sponsoring a banner bearing their image and military information for $100 each.
Main Street Bank is sponsoring brackets for the banners, which will be hung along Main and Charles streets and adjacent intersections with traffic signals. For information or forms, call (304) 737-3551 or e-mail chambersandjames@gmail.com.
Plans call for the banners to be unveiled later this month and raised by Labor Day. Volunteers behind the effort are working to correct minor problems that occurred with banners displayed recently along Commerce Street and other areas.
Escape room visiting library
in Brooke County on July 24
WELLSBURG -- The No-Escape Steel City Mobile Escape Room will be visiting the Brooke County Public Library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 24.
Groups of two to four players can enter the mobile escape room, in which the scene of a murder will be created. Participants will have 45 minutes to solve the case before the murderer returns.

Library offering activity bags
WELLSBURG -- Brooke County Public Libraries offer grab-and-go activity bags that can be picked up at either location and taken home.
