The Pleasant Hill School House Museum at 3125 state Route 213, Steubenville, will have a special Christmas ornament available for purchase for the first time at its open house scheduled for Aug. 8 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. They are $20 and also will be available at the Sept. 12 open house, also from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., or by calling (740) 544-5666. The ornament sale is taking the place of the organization's Christmas in July sale and cookie sale. The front of the ornament reads "Merry Christmas" and has a picture of the schoolhouse. The back of the ornament notes "1880 Historical Museum" and bears a photo of the schoolhouse bell and acknowledges the building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
