JUHS Class of 1971 plans 50-year reunion

RICHMOND — The Jefferson Union High School Class of 1971 will be holding its 50-year class reunion at Undo’s Restaurant, 350 Three Springs Drive, Weirton, on Oct. 9.

WVNCC offering free exercise class on Zoom

WEIRTON — West Virginia Northern Community College is offering a free exercise class on Zoom.

The class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., beginning Wednesday and running through Dec. 8.

This is a low-impact aerobics class with an emphasis on cardiorespiratory endurance, strength improvement and flexibility with no chair or floor work, usually to music that’s 128-140 bpm. Every student can adapt the exercises to his or her own fitness level. A link will be sent upon registration. Enrollment is continuous. SHS details events for Homecoming week

STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville High School will be celebrating 80 years of excellence this year, a school spokesperson noted.

To continue their tradition, they will kick off homecoming week with a street fair on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 420 N. Fourth St.

The Thursday evening Street Fair will be admission free and include nine food trucks featuring Johnny Davis Foods, Kathy’s Little Kitchen, Kona Ice, Taco Juarez, Desperado Dogs, Hot Bunz, Martoni’s Stuffed Pasta/Artisan Pizza, Duggan’s Delights and 740BBQ.

Also included will be live entertainment on stage throughout the evening, including the Harding Band and cheerleaders, Bronco cheerleaders, Big Red Pep Band and cheerleaders, as well as the 2021 Homecoming court. From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Twice as Nice will be featured on stage.

Several craft and product vendors will have a presence such as Papparazzi Jewlry, Flying Eagles/Clancy Printing, Twisted Leopard Creations, Chaotic Perfection, Color Street Nails, Sara’s Creations, Bee Creative Crafts, Shellie Ann Lemonade, Batter, Fresh Nutrition by Drazen, Chaotic Lox, Beckett Bites Bakery and Syna-Blue Wave.

For children there will be games, inflatables, a train ride, and a dunk tank from Movin and Groovin. There will a car cruise located in front of 420 N. Fourth St.

The event is rain or shine, and all donations will go toward the SHS Scholarship Foundation.

On Friday there will be a pep rally on the front steps of Steubenville High School, beginning at 1:45 p.m., with the tailgate for the Homecoming parade beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Belleview Park. The Homecoming game is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. against Linsly. Sept. 25 festivities will continue with the Fine Arts Showcase at 2 p.m. and concluding with the All-School Reunion at the Hellenic Hall.
