STEUBENVILLE -- The Pleasant Hill School House Museum at 3125 state Route 213, Steubenville, will hold its last summer open house on Saturday.
The open house runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a special bell ringing planned in observance of the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
The group will have Christmas ornaments available for purchase. They are $20 and also are available by calling (740) 544-5666.
The ornament sale is taking the place of the organization's Christmas in July sale and cookie sale. The front of the ornament reads "Merry Christmas" and has a picture of the schoolhouse. The back of the ornament notes "1880 Historical Museum" and bears a photo of the schoolhouse bell and acknowledges the building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The museum will be part of the Academy of Lifelong Learning's opportunities for the fall semester with a field trip planned there on Oct. 27.
All of the one-room schoolhouse teachers on that day will be dressed in their 1800s finery, according to museum spokeswoman Connie Crawford.
Also on the fall calendar for the museum is the craft sale that will be held Nov. 6 at the Knoxville Volunteer Fire Department.
