4-H program holds appreciation banquet

SMITHFIELD -- The Ohio State University Extension, 4-H Youth Development Program held its annual adviser appreciation banquet on Oct. 11 at Le Chateau Pier in Smithfield.
The office honored its adult volunteers and several "over-achieving youth members" with a dinner and awards. In addition, a 4-H committee election was held, with eight members being elected or re-elected.
Elected to the 4-H committee were Kyle Koehnlein, Allison Boyd, Carolyn Piergallini, Carl Glenn, Gretchen Bonecutter, Anna Ault, Karen Thomas and Heather Merkel.
In addition, the following awards were presented:
Most Outstanding 4-H'er Junior, John Paul "J.P." Wilson; Most Outstanding 4-H'er Senior, co-award winners Brianna Merkel and Allison Bell; 4-H Head Award, Wes Frew; 4-H Heart Award, the King family; 4-H Hands Award, Bonnie Randolph; 4-H Health Award, Casie Johnson State Farm; Friend of 4-H Award, the Whinnery family; Jefferson County OSU Extension 4-H Leadership Award, Delaney Johnson; and the Jefferson County OSU Extension Meritorious Service Award, in memory of the late Suzanne Kresser.
