'Music & Art at the Bell Tower 1' happening on Saturday
NEW MANCHESTER -- Montani Semper Liberi -- Music and Art will be presenting "Music & Art at the Bell Tower I, An Evening with Brad Gibson," on Saturday at the Bell Tower Theater in New Manchester.
Acoustic solo artist Brad Gibson will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. His set will include an appearance by his bluegrass trio, Dirty Dishwater Revival.
The event will begin with "A Remembrance of Chuck Picklesimer … His Music … His Art … His Life," according to organizer Matt Cashdollar. Picklesimer, a longtime friend of the Arts, died in March.
That same evening, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Halloween trick-or-treat youngsters are encouraged to stop by and visit the Bell Tower Theater.

Library offering Taste the World kits, grab-and-go bags
STEUBENVILLE -- Taste the World kits will be available at locations of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County beginning Nov. 8 and while supplies last.
"Just in time for sweater weather, the library branches will have new Taste the World kits," explained Jennifer Cesta, the library system's public relations coordinator. "'A to Z World' and 'A to Z Food' are e-resources available on the library's website. We'll supply the spices and recipes for hot mulled cider and German hot spiced wine." Patrons can stop in to pick up a kit.
Also available at all branches while supplies last are Harry Potter Grab-and-Go kits. They're available to participants ages 9-18.

Adena Lions Club is taking
orders for roses, carnations
ADENA -- The Adena Lions Club is in the midst of its rose and carnation sale with orders needing placed now through Nov. 16 with any club member.
A dozen roses are $20 and are available in red, pink, yellow or assorted. Carnations are available for $20 a dozen as well with color choices being red, pink, white or assorted. Checks can be made payable to the Adena Lions Club.
Orders will be delivered Nov. 23 at the community center in Harrisville.
Wreaths Across America effort expands to Richmond, Bergholz
UNIONPORT -- The Unionport Order of Eastern Star Chapter 360 is expanding the number of cemeteries it is working to have wreaths sponsored for veterans' graves as part of this year's Wreaths Across America effort.
Le'Ann Gibbons, chapter secretary and past worthy matron, is a local coordinator for the Wreaths Across America effort.
WAA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992, according to promotional material from WAA. "The organization's mission -- 'Remember, Honor, Teach' -- is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as thousands of veterans' cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond."
Wreaths Across America Day will be observed on Dec. 18.
"We have registered Richmond Presbyterian Church cemetery, Richmond Union Cemetery, Bergholz Cemetery and the Amsterdam Memorial Wall," Gibbons explained.
The new locations are in addition to the first-time WAA locations last year with five cemeteries in Wayne Township -- Pine Run, Unionport, Bloomingdale, Shaffer Cemetery in McIntyre and Mount Moriah Cemetery -- and East Springfield Cemetery in Salem Township.
Individuals, businesses, clubs or groups are welcome to sponsor one or more wreaths at $15 each. The deadline to do so is Nov. 10.

Brooke County Museum
available for arranged visits
WELLSBURG -- The Brooke County Museum and Cultural Center has closed for winter, but visits may be arranged by calling (304) 794-6584 at least a few days in advance.
Located at 704 Charles St., the museum includes a variety of displays reflecting the daily life of Brooke County residents over more than 100 years and the military service of many in various military conflicts.
Historical association hosting haunted museum ghost tour
STEUBENVILLE -- The Jefferson County Historical Association is hosting a haunted house ghost tour today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
There will be an event inside and outside the museum located at 426 Franklin Ave.
The inside event will consist of a haunted ghost tour with story readings of Halloween for children of all ages.
The outside event will include hot chocolate, apple cider, a smores bar and hot dogs.
The event is free to the public, and donations are welcome. For information contact the museum at (740) 283-1133.
Thanksgiving buffet part of next meeting for Four Seasons
WEIRTON -- The Four Seasons Seniors held their October meeting at Undo's with President Gene Viola presiding. Tony LaRosa gave the opening and closing prayers and led in the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of "God Bless America."
After dinner members were entertained by Chuck Lucas.
Committee reports were read, and one anniversary celebration noted.
Because there were no nominations for new officers, the current officers will retain their offices for another year.
For the November and December meetings, the members chose socializing after the meeting instead of having games or entertainment.
The next meeting will be Nov. 17. The menu will be the traditional Thanksgiving buffet.
Helen Bane won the 50-50 drawing. Other prizes, including Undo's gift certificates, were won by Tony LaRosa, Laura Mamula, Barbara Libengood, Carolyn Shaffer and Mike DiBiase.
