Weirton Senior Center plans fundraiser, Halloween party

WEIRTON — The Weirton Senior Center, 3425 Main St., has several activities on its calendar, notes Tammy Margetic, director.

The center will hold its monthly fundraiser bake sale, flea market and book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

It’s open to the public.

A Halloween party for seniors will be held at the center on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Costumes are encouraged but not necessary.

Gift cards — one from Bob Evans, the other Eat ‘n Park — will be awarded for the top two best costumes.

“We are playing cards after lunch and having crafts in the morning,” Margetic said.

“We are still having nutrition from Brooke/Hancock County Office of Aging coming and serving hot lunches at 11:30 a.m. Take-outs are permitted.

“They must call two days ahead of time to reserve their meals,” she explained, noting the meal is $2.

The center is open to seniors over the age of 55. Its hours are Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
