Association program Thursday
SMITHFIELD -- The Jefferson County Veterans Association will hold its annual Veterans Day program on Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Military Park and Memorial Wall in Friendship Park, Smithfield.
Jefferson County commissioner Thomas Graham will open with singing the national anthem. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and its Sentinels who guard it, Barry Bardone, association adjutant, will speak on their history.
Coffee and doughnuts will follow, courtesy of Tim Hortons.
Pine Grove UMC hosting
fundraiser dinner Saturday
HAMMONDSVILLE -- Pine Grove United Methodist Church is hosting a spaghetti dinner on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Saline Township Complex in Hammondsville.
The meal includes spaghetti, meatballs, salad, desserts and drinks. Cost is by donation. There will be door prizes and a drawing for a 40-inch Smart TV.
Steubenville Saddle Club
meeting set for Tuesday
RICHMOND -- The Steubenville Saddle Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the club grounds, located at 8675 state Route 152 N., Richmond.
A discussion tabled at the October meeting will be revisited with members and sponsors encouraged to participate in a dialogue about the club's declining financial situation during the past years.
Sponsorship fees and the possibility of increasing class entry fees for the 2022 show year will be among discussion items.
"If you are a sponsor or a member, and you have an opinion on this matter, we invite you to join us to discuss further to come to the best conclusion for all involved in the club," notes a post on the club's Facebook page.
Wintersville UMC veterans
dinner set for Wednesday
WINTERSVILLE -- The Wintersville United Methodist Church at 702 Main St., Wintersville, will be hosting a free community dinner for veterans and their spouses on Wednesday.
Attendees will be able to come to the Center for Hope anytime from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and enjoy a dinner, according to a church spokesperson.
PERI Chapter to meet
Wednesday at Eat 'n Park
STEUBENVLLE -- The Jefferson County Public Employee Retirees Inc. District 9, Chapter 5, will be meeting at Eat 'n Park, Mall Drive, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
The speaker will be Jim Range, PERI board of trustee District 9 representative.
All PERI members are welcome to attend.
Veterans eat for free Thursday
at Bell Chapel UMC dinner
STEUBENVILLE -- Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, located at 3419 state Route 213, Steubenville, is hosting a veterans dinner on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Veterans eat for free. For all others, the cost is $10 for the spaghetti and meatball dinner.
Dec. 4 quarter auction
at East Springfield VFD
EAST SPRINGFIELD -- The East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will be hosting a fundraiser quarter auction at the fire department, located at 9854 county Road 39, Bloomingdale.
It will be held Dec. 4 with doors opening at 11:30 p.m. and the auction beginning at 12:30 p.m.
A $5 entry fee includes one paddle. Additional paddles will be available for $1 each.
There will be food available for purchase.
