SHS Class of 1959 is planning Thanksgiving luncheon Nov. 17
STEUBENVILLE — Alumni from Steubenville High School’s Class of 1959 met in October with 22 in attendance.
Norina Eroshevich provided the blessing before lunch. A welcome was extended to Mike Nodianos and Steve Tepovich.
The Thanksgiving luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner in Steubenville.
For reservations, attendees should call Eroshevich at (740) 219-2234 or Donna Snyder at (740) 314-5248 by Nov. 14 for reservations. All are welcome.
Follansbee UMC making plans
for advent bazaar on Dec. 4
FOLLANSBEE — Follansbee United Methodist Church, located at 1002 Virginia Ave., will be hosting an advent bazaar on Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It will feature crafts, treasures, soup and a bake sale.
Hancock retired school
employees schedule meeting
NEW CUMBERLAND — The Hancock County Association of Retired School Employees is having a luncheon and meeting at the Hancock County Senior Center on Gas Valley Road in New Cumberland on Nov. 16 at noon.

Weirton church having soup, sandwich and pie sale Nov. 20
WEIRTON — St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church on Three Springs Drive in Weirton is holding a holiday soup and sandwich sale on Nov. 20 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Soups available are bean/ham, potato and wedding for $3 a cup and $8 a quart. Sandwiches are sloppy joe, barbecued ham and plain ham, $4. There will be pumpkin pie, $8 whole pie; and apple pie, $12 whole pie; or a slice of either for $3. There will be pop and water for sale for $1. “The bake sale will have many delicious items to purchase,” a spokesperson noted.
This is a take-out only sale with patrons invited to call in orders or stop in. Call the church at (304) 723-4120 and leave a name and phone number. “Please do not leave your order on the answering machine. Someone will call back to get the order,”the spokesperson added. Orders will be accepted beginning Nov. 15.
Bay Six Project announces Thanksgiving, Christmas plans
MINGO JUNCTION — The Bay Six Project in Mingo Junction is is preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas outreaches.
One of them is a free hot “commUNITY” Thanksgiving meal that will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Mingo Junction City Building at 501 Commercial St.
The meal can be taken home or attendees can dine in at decorated tables in the basement of the city building.
There are no restrictions on signing up to come and receive a meal. “We just ask that you sign up everybody who will be coming so that we can plan for the appropriate amount of food,” noted Bobby Westfall, who runs the nonprofit with his wife, Stacy. Those planning to attend are asked to sign up by Nov. 14 at thebaysixproject.org. A menu has yet to be set.
This is a free project sponsored by the Bay Six Project, a 501(c)3 nonprofit neighborhood center, the Fringe Church and One Love Skate along with other members of the community.
Bay Six Project’s Christmas sign-ups have started as well with information and signups available on the website. “The Bay Six: Christmas project is designed to help take some of the pressure and burden off of families who are not having the best season of life right now,” commented Westfall.
“Our goal is to do our part to make sure that every child has a Christmas gift waiting for them when they wake up on Christmas morning. If you are a parent, guardian or caretaker of a child (or children) who is at risk of not having a gift awaiting them on the morning of Dec. 25, then please take a moment and sign up for our Bay Six: Christmas project,” Westfall encouraged.
The deadline to sign up is Dec. 8. Gift pickup will be at 618 Commercial St., on Dec. 17 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Questions can be directed to the baysixproject@gmail.com.
Quarter auction Nov. 21 aids Follansbee Community Days
FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Community Days Committee is organizing a fundraiser quarter auction.
It will be held Nov. 21 at the Follansbee Community House. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. with bidding beginning at 1:30 p.m.
The fundraiser will include a Chinese auction and a 50/50 drawing. Refreshments will be available.
St. Joseph’s Christmas cookie walk scheduled for Dec. 4
WEIRTON — St. Joseph’s Christmas cookie walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the grade school gym located on Michael Way, Weirton.
Ladylocks, caramel cups, biscotti, peanut butter balls and a variety of other cookies will be sold for $8 per dozen for cash sales only.
The fundraiser benefits the teachers at St. Joseph the Worker Grade School.
