Weirton Lions Club to hold

quarter auction on Saturday

WEIRTON -- The Weirton Lions Club will be holding a quarter auction fundraiser on Saturday at the American Legion Post 10, 3140 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton.

Doors open at 11 a.m., and the auction starts at noon. Besides the auction, there will be a Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing. Food will be available for purchase. Admission is $5 and includes one paddle. Each additional paddle is $1.

Proceeds will benefit Lions community charities such as the purchase of eye glasses for those in need.

The Weirton Lions meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Giovanni's Restaurant at 6:30 p.m.

Orders being accepted for

cabbage rolls and pierogies

WEIRTON -- While supplies last, members of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church are sponsoring a frozen food sale.

Six cabbage rolls are $20, and a dozen cheese/potato pierogies are $9.

Pick-up dates will be Nov. 19, Dec. 3 and Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church Hall, 604 Colliers Way, across from Weirton Medical Center.

Rotary Club of Steubenville

has fundraiser in progress

STEUBENVILLE -- The Rotary Club of Steubenville once again is selling the My Enjoy Coupon Book. Costing $40, the annual publication includes discounts and offers for businesses and restaurants around the Tri-State Area, and is good through Oct. 31.

"It's a great fundraising project for our club," said Ross Gallabrese, Rotary Club president.

"Proceeds from the sale of the books allow us to continue to help the community, from offering scholarships to supporting other nonprofit groups and organizations."

ADK Ohio Beta Chapter is

collecting for local toy drive

STEUBENVILLE -- The Ohio Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Teaching Sorority met Nov. 9 at Malara Hall in Steubenville.

President Linda Lenzi presided, introducing guest speaker Jamie Baker who presented the evening's program on "Coats for Kids." Baker explained that the program has given away many coats recently but could still use more.

Lenzi updated members on various health issues of club members and encouraged cards and prayers. Pam Fithen, chaplain, read "All in A Word" by Aileen Fisher and "Thanksgiving Prayer" by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

The business session of the meeting included a district report that Beta Alpha had received state awards for collecting money for the Indian Creek and Toronto food pantries and for hosting a "Cisco de Mayo" picnic for the membership.

Ways and Means Chairman Sue Davidson discussed sponsoring a bus trip in the spring. Money was collected for the Wintersville Good Neighbors Christmas toy drive for needy children.

Joyce Cammilletti, fraternal educational chairman, presented a quiz based on sorority information.

The Dec. 7 meeting will be a Christmas dinner at Scaffidi's Restaurant in Steubenville. It will begin at 5:30 p.m. Each member is asked to bring a $10 item for the gift auction.

Reservations, along with a $20 price for the meal, should be mailed to Dorie Mallas as soon as possible.

Wellsburg church is taking

orders for Christmas cookies

WELLSBURG -- Christ Episcopal Church in Wellsburg is taking orders for its annual Christmas cookie sale.

The last day to place an order is Dec. 4. All orders are to be picked up on Dec. 11 between 9 a.m. and noon.
